City of Seguin Provides Support for Little League Shade Structures

SEGUIN, Texas - Little League parents and fans attending games at Max Starcke Park East will be much cooler from the Texas heat now that shade structures have been installed on all six ball fields.

Thanks to a fundraising campaign spearheaded by the members of the 2019 Leadership Seguin Class, this project became a reality. Thirteen (13) shade structures were installed just in time for summer, and a ribbon cutting ceremony was held Tuesday, June 18 signifying the project’s completion. Mayor Don Keil was on hand to present the Leadership Class with an appreciation plaque.

The Leadership Seguin Class worked hard to secure grant funding, donations and sponsorships from companies and individuals, and also held fundraising events. Their efforts raised approximately $90,000. The City of Seguin proudly partnered with the Leadership Class and provided $34,500 to help fund the shade structures.

Other significant contributions were provided by GVEC’s PowerUp grant ($18,000), Caterpillar ($15,000), Alligator Dental ($5,000), CMC Steel ($5,000) and Alamo Group TX ($2,500).
