Fall events for youth at the library
SEGUIN, Texas – Families are invited to a variety of activities at the library this fall, including Halloween story times, science programs, and a Library Mini-Con.
Haunted Halloween Stories and Crafts is Tuesday, October 23rd from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Hear stories about the seasonal holidays Halloween and el Día de los Muertos followed by crafts for ages 5-11. For younger children, Not-So-Spooky Storytime will be Wednesday, October 31st at 10 a.m. for toddlers (ages 0-36 months) and 11 a.m. for preschoolers (ages 3-5). Children can dress up in costume, enjoy age appropriate Halloween stories, and trick-or-treat around the library in a costume parade!
Kids Discover is a monthly science program, and on November 5th, the Guadalupe Master Naturalists are presenting Discover Rocks: The Building Blocks of the Earth. The program is geared toward ages 6 to 11, with a 2 p.m. program for homeschoolers and a 4 p.m. after school program. Children participate in hands-on activities that fulfill at least 2 TEKS standards.
On Saturday, November 10th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the library will host a Library Mini-Con to celebrate comics, cosplay, games, and pop culture. The Mini-Con has been planned by Teen Advisory Board members, but this family-friendly event is for all ages. Come for cosplay workshops, a cosplay contest for ages 11+, video gaming, exhibitors, and crafts. Artists and vendors interested in participating should apply by October 19th. Applications are available on the library website at library.seguintexas.gov.
