Municipally owned and operated, the City of Seguin Electric Department is responsible for maintaining the City's power distribution systems and three substations. The city, which owns its own electricity distribution system, purchases wholesale power from CPS Energy in San Antonio.
In addition to maintaining the electricity distribution system, the Department is also responsible for maintaining security and street lighting, responding to electrical outages, customer requests and resolutions. The Department also provides the construction needed to extend electrical service to new customers and for all Capital Improvement Projects.
Located in the Utilities Operation Center at 3027 North Austin Street, our staff of well-trained employees strive to provide prompt and courteous attention to the citizens of Seguin. We value customer service, teamwork, training, professionalism and safety.
By the Numbers
The Electric Department maintains 8,500 electric and 8,000 water meters throughout the City. Each year, the department tests 280 commercial meters, 400 residential meters, maintains a SCADA System for the substations and AMR System, and fulfills more than 20,000 work orders a year.
Substations & Electrical Circuits
Substations play a key role in helping your home receive a safe, consistent energy flow. The City of Seguin operates three substations. A fourth substation is currently under construction to serve all areas of our growing community:
- Seguin East
- Seguin West
- Seguin North (currently under construction)
