Seguin Police Youth Scholarship
The Seguin Police Youth Scholarship Program is offering a $500.00 scholarship for one (1) 2019 senior at Seguin High School.
The scholarship is open to all Seguin High School seniors who will be eligible to graduate from Seguin High School, will meet the academic standards for such graduation; and have actually graduated from a sanctioned Texas D.A.R.E. Program or an equivalent drug prevention program (as determined according to the rules and criteria established by the Texas D.A.R.E. Program or an equivalent drug prevention program); have actually maintained a “drug-free” lifestyle with a display of “high moral standards” and “academic achievement”; and have actually enrolled, full time, in a four year college degree program.
The senior must complete an application, prepare a written essay, and submit a resume. The application shall include a cover letter including:
(1) A statement in writing, promising the Fund that it is the student’s intent to enroll, “full time” at a four or two year college degree program as defined by that particular college or university; and
(2) A statement in writing, promising the Fund that it is the students’ intent to meet the academic standards necessary for graduation from Seguin High School and that he or she has plans to graduate from Seguin High School.
The written essay must be typed with a minimum of two (2) pages and a maximum of three (3) pages. The essay shall be on the following topic:
“Please discuss how the Seguin Police Department Drug Prevention Program has impacted your decision making ability in a social & academic environment and how this ability has prepared you for success in life.”

All applications, essay, and related documents must be submitted to Tricia Mayo, Counselor Secretary at Seguin High School no later than March 8, 2019. Applicant may be invited to attend an interview by the Scholarship Committee.
