National Night Out
Since 1984 National Night Out has been enhancing relationships between the community and law enforcement while providing a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits.
In Texas, National Night Out is celebrated on the first Tuesday in October.
National Night Out celebrates our Police - Community Partnerships. The Seguin Police Department is committed to community involvement that must include you, the community.
The goal of National Night Out is to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
- Generate support for local anti-crime efforts.
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
- Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
On the first Tuesday each October, between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm - residents of Seguin are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors. Simply knowing your neighbors is one of the most effective methods to prevent crime. The Police and Fire Department will stop by to visit with many of the residents whose parties are registered with the Police Department. This is a great opportunity to meet with officer, firefighters, and other public safety agency folks one-in-one.
