Public Safety Youth Academy

The Seguin Public Safety Youth Academy is a ten-week training program, whose objective is to expose the student cadets to some very rewarding careers in public safety to include law enforcement and fire services. We place strong emphasis on self-respect, respect of others, teamwork and commitment to ones' goals. The academy is perfect for any High School student who would like a challenge and to learn more about public safety. The leadership lessons they learn during the academy will last them a lifetime.

Seguin Public Safety Youth Academy is open for High School Students (ages 15-19).
It is a fun, interactive learning experience designed to:

  • Teach students about law enforcement, its challenges and the philosophy of teamwork
  • Promote a greater understanding between our community’s young adults and law enforcement
  • Help students develop skills to keep themselves safe from dangers in the community

Meetings will be held each week on Thursday. The meetings will be at the Seguin Police Station and at the various Seguin Fire Stations on a rotating basis.
**Student Cadets must have their own transportation to and from meetings.

Each student cadet will be required to wear their academy T-shirt (which will be provided), pants and closed toed shoes to each meeting.
**Attendees are expected be present every day of the Academy barring any unforeseen circumstances or prior arrangements made with the Academy coordinator.**

There is no cost to attend the Seguin Public Safety Youth Academy, however, an application is required prior to the start of each session. Sessions are limited to 15 cadets. Applications will be accepted until Friday, December 20th. We believe this program is a great tool to foster relations with young adults in our community, so we cover all expenses, including meals and a T-shirt that is theirs to keep.
