Founded in 1877, the Seguin Fire Department proudly serves the citizens of Seguin, Texas and surrounding areas of Guadalupe County. The department provides fire suppression, rescue, advanced life support emergency medical services, fire prevention, public education, building inspections, hazardous materials response, emergency management and an array of community programs to the citizens of Seguin. The fire department has a fire response area of approximately 150 square miles including the city and Guadalupe County and provides Emergency Medical Service (EMS) coverage to approximately 450 square miles within Guadalupe County. The department is comprised of career and volunteer personnel cross-trained in firefighting and emergency medical care. The department has three platoons where each works the traditional 24-48-hour shift rotation. The staff, consisting of a fire chief, fire marshal/emergency manager, and a fire inspector work a 40-hour week. The SFD operates from three stations each housing an engine/truck company. Two stations house a mobile intensive care unit. Central fire station houses the department’s brush truck, tanker and rescue truck. The department has one engine and two ambulances in reserve status. The Seguin Fire Department has highly trained firefighters working with the latest technologies with an all-hazards approach service delivery.
Structural Fire Suppression
Residential, commercial, and industrial fire protection.
Grass fires, uncontrolled/unauthorized burns.
ALS treatment and MICU transport for life threatening injuries and medical emergencies.
Response, identification, and limited containment of minor to moderate hazardous material emergencies.
Technical rescues such as high-angle, confined space, and swift-water as well as vehicle extrication. Personnel are also trained in SCUBA search and recovery.
Station tours, puppet shows, and class room presentations aimed at children. We also offer inspections and extinguisher demonstrations for the home or workplace.
