2020 Sip 'n Stroll Mug Sales Start at Trade Days

Mugs to feature 1889 Victorian Style County Court House

Artist w artwork-Bryan MedinaThe 2020 Sip 'n Stroll mug sales begin on Saturday, October 24 during Seguin's Fall Trade Days in Central Park. The mugs will then be available at downtown merchants starting Monday, October 26 until sold out.

For the tenth year, the Sip 'n Stroll mug will feature a historic Seguin landmark, the 1889 Victorian Style County Court House. Built in 1889, this courthouse took on a more Victorian look than previous courthouses. The present courthouse replaced it in 1938.

The 2020 Sip 'n Stroll committee selected artwork submitted by Bryan Medina, an Austin native with family ties in Seguin, to be featured on the 2020 mug. The artwork is a pen and ink drawing with a stippling technique, a process of drawing using numerous small dots or specks.

A cartoonist by trade, Medina's artwork spans from intricate architecture and landscapes to his very own comic strip. Medina's family is from Seguin and he spent many summers here as a kid. "I have some great memories [of Seguin]," he said, "barbecues at Starcke Park, swimming at the wave pool, Fourth of July parades, and the county fair to name a few."

"I started creating art at a young age in many different mediums," said Medina. "I was commissioned by my cousin, who lives in Seguin, to create a picture of the old Seguin Court House. When she heard about the Sip 'n Stroll contest she encouraged me to submit."
Beginning on October 24, the 2020 Sip 'n Stroll mugs can be purchased for $15.00 at Trade Days and then various local businesses in and around downtown Seguin starting Monday, October 26.

"The mugs have become a collectible with many people purchasing a mug from each year," said Kelly Schoenvogel, a member of the Sip 'n Stroll Committee, "and we strongly encourage people to purchase their mugs early as we have sold out in the past."

"We are sad to announce that we have had to cancel this year's Sip 'n Stroll and North Pole Stroll events due to social distancing requirements," says Kyle Kramm, Director of Main Street & CVB. "But Christmas will be in full swing downtown, so we hope everyone will still come out and support our local businesses."
