SEGUIN, Texas – The legacy of fallen Seguin firefighter Roger Dean will live in perpetuity when Fire Station No. 3 is re-named in his honor.
The community is invited to a special ceremony on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2 pm where Dean will be memorialized when Station 3 will be named as the Roger W. Dean, III Station. The fire station is located at the intersection of Kingsbury Street and State Highway 123 Bypass.
Dean passed away on April 23, 2021 following complications from COVID-19, which he contracted while serving the community as a firefighter and paramedic for the Seguin Fire Department. He began his service with the Seguin Fire Department in July 2018 and quickly moved up the ranks to EMS Field Training Officer. Dean was the first line of duty death in the Seguin Fire Department’s history.
In August 2022, the Seguin City Council unanimously approved a request brought forward by Fire Chief Dale Skinner for renaming Seguin Fire Station No. 3 in memory of Roger W. Dean, III.
