SEGUIN, Texas – Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen has announced that she has chosen the Guadalupe County Fair Association to lead this year’s 2023 Holiday Stroll Parade.
In selecting the organization as this year’s Grand Marshal for the parade, Mayor Dodgen said, "The Guadalupe County Fair has been a staple in our community for the past 140 years and is the third oldest county fair in Texas. In a tribute to recognize the fair’s heritage and numerous contributions to the youth in our community, it is fitting that the Guadalupe County Fair Association be honored in this way, ” she said.
The parade, which kicks off two nights of downtown holiday fun, begins at 6:30 pm on Thursday, November 30 at the intersection of College and Austin Streets. The Holiday Stroll Parade features entries from local and area businesses & organizations illuminated with lights to celebrate the upcoming holidays. The parade proceeds south on Austin Street to Central Park. After the parade, the community is invited to gather in Central Park for the annual tree lighting by Mayor Dodgen. The mayor will also announce the winners of the parade and the Christmas Tree Decorating Contest.
Entries are currently being sought for the Holiday Stroll Parade. Entering the parade is free and the deadline to enter is Nov. 16. Entry forms and parade rules can be found on the City’s website at https://www.seguintexas.gov/784/Holiday-Stroll-Parade
Parade entries will be judged on lighting, creativity, and holiday spirit. A commemorative sign will be presented to the entries with the top three overall scores in the Commercial and Non-Commercial categories. Christmas trees will be judged on originality, theme and creativity, and a commemorative sign will be given to the top four scoring entries.
