Participate in SPD Crime Cam Program

Crime Cam Program Revised copy

SEGUIN, Texas - The Seguin Police Department believes a strong partnership with our citizens and businesses keeps our community safe. The department is always looking for new ways to work with citizens to prevent and solve crimes.

If you’ve watched the news lately, you’ve heard how often video surveillance systems have been attributed with helping to catch a suspect and/or closing a case. Seguin Police Officers know many people in our community have systems like this in place at their homes and businesses, and can be utilized in local investigations – they just have to know about them.

SPD is asking residents and businesses across the city to voluntarily register their privately-owned surveillance systems so police officers and detectives will know where they can possibly find cameras that may have recorded important evidence that can help solve a crime.

In the event that a crime occurs near their property, citizens who have registered through this program may be contacted, notifying them about the crime and requesting access to their video footage for investigative purposes only.

The program is strictly voluntary, and camera owners can opt out at any time. Police officers will not be able to access surveillance systems remotely, but will only have access to video after receiving permission from the owner.

If you own and operate a video surveillance system in the City of Seguin, you’re asked to pick up a registration form.  They can be found at the Seguin Police Department (350 N. Guadalupe St.) or visit the city website at https://www.seguintexas.gov/918/Crime-Cams
