SEGUIN, Texas – Starcke Park Golf Course was awarded 2022 Facility of the Year for its First Tee Program.
First Tee is a youth development organization with 150 chapters around the world that teaches life skills through golf development. Starcke Park Golf Course was recently given their award at a Game Changers Luncheon hosted by First Tee – Greater San Antonio.
The First Tee program upholds their core values of honesty, courtesy, perseverance, respect, integrity, responsibility, sportsmanship, confidence and judgement. Carter Alyea, a Navarro Intermediate School student and First Tee participant since 2019, also received an award for sportsmanship at the luncheon.
Starcke Park Golf Course has been hosting First Tee classes since 2018 and was recognized for their spring, summer and fall programs in 2022. The Course has one of the longest running satellite programs of the San Antonio branch and was also recognized for the great work of their volunteer staff.
Gabby Rangel was formerly an Assistant Golf Pro for Starcke Park GC and now works as a Program Director at First Tee Greater San Antonio. “She did an excellent job in getting the program on its feet and building it into a great program,” said Bruce Allen, Starcke Park Golf Course Manager.
