The Seguin Police Department is now offering a 4-week Use of Force Academy. This free academy provides insight to citizens regarding law enforcement and use of force. Participants have the opportunity to participate in an open dialogue with officers, where questions they may have are highly encouraged.
The course covers Seguin Police Department's Use of Force statistics and policy, discusses less lethal weapons carried by SPD officers, mental health and its relation to use of force calls, de-escalation, a defensive tactics demonstration, and an opportunity to participate in a use of force simulator.
Applicants must be older than 18 (no high school students). All applicants will undergo a background check prior to the start of class. Hurry and complete your applications as these classes fill up quickly!
