The Seguin Police Department has two Evidence Forensic Specialists who work in conjunction with the SPD Patrol Division and the SPD Criminal Investigations Division. Working in shifts and on-call, these two specialists are able to respond to crime scenes nearly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
SPD Evidence Forensic Specialists are responsible for maintaining and safeguarding the integrity of all police held property in accordance with state laws, city ordinances and department policies and procedures. They establish an organized approach to gathering evidence at crime scenes through proper procedures to include documentation, collection and preservation of evidence.
The Evidence Forensic Supervisor is a graduate of the National Forensic Academy and is a Certified Crime Scene Analyst through the International Association of Identification. The Evidence Forensic Specialist is currently obtaining the Forensic Investigator Certification through Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service.
