Patrons encouraged to "Read Local. Shop Seguin." in September.
SEGUIN, Texas – The Seguin Economic Development Corporation, Seguin Main Street Program, Seguin Chamber of Commerce and Seguin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce are partnering up with the Seguin Public Library to bring “Read Local. Shop Seguin.,” a shop local campaign.
“Read Local. Shop Seguin.” will run throughout the month of September, which is also National Library Card Sign-up month. The goal of the campaign is to drive business into Seguin businesses, while promoting Seguin’s state of the art library.
Stop by participating local businesses and show your Seguin Public Library card to receive a special offer or discount. The campaign is open to anyone who has a Seguin Public Library card. If you don’t have a library card, stop by the Seguin Public Library on 313 West Nolte Street to obtain one. You can also check out the participating local businesses during the library’s Local Business Expo Event that will occur from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the one year anniversary celebration on Saturday, September 9.
Efforts to shop local have been created to keep more money within our community. The Seguin Economic Development Corporation, Seguin Main Street Program, Seguin Chamber of Commerce and Seguin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce have added “Read Local. Shop Seguin.” as an extension of “Shop Small. Shop Seguin.” a campaign held yearly for Small Business Saturday in November. According to Independent We Stand, for every $100 spent in locally owned businesses, $68 will stay in the community. Whereas for every $100 spent in a national chain, only $43 will stay in the community.
