Healthy Living Series at the Library

SEGUIN, Texas –Join us at the Library for a series of special health education programs during the month October. 

“The library in partnership with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension will offer two health education series.  Our goal is to provide customers with information, resources and skills that will help them improve their well-being and live a healthier life” said Assistant Library Director, Silvia Christy.

The first series A Fresh Star to a Healthier You! will be presented by Lisa Whittemore and starts on Monday October 2nd.  The series will last 4 weeks and will meet from 1:00-2:00 pm on Mondays until October 23rd in the Community Meeting Room.   The workshops are designed to provide hands on learning, food tasting, and handy kitchen tools as free giveaways.  The classes will help customers gain confidence to cook healthy meals and gain practical cooking and shopping tips.

The second series Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes will be presented by Charla Bading and covers basic nutrition and self-care management topics. The program helps people with diabetes learn the skills needed to manage their disease successfully. Managing your blood glucose, preventing and managing complications and nutritional levels are some of the topics covered.  The workshops will start October 9th. The classes will meet from 5:00-7:00 pm on Mondays until October 30th
