Fireworks Viewing Areas Added
Streets to Close for Events
SEGUIN, Texas – The City of Seguin wants to alert residents about Fourth of July street closures and a new fireworks viewing area.
The following will close at 6 a.m. on Thursday, July 3 and will reopen Friday, July 4 at approximately 2 p.m. These closures are necessary for Freedom Fiesta, the flag raising ceremony and the Biggest Small-Town Parade in Texas.
100 and 200 block of E. Donegan from Austin to Crockett
100 and 200 blocks of E. Nolte from Austin to Crockett
100 and 200 blocks of S. River from Court to Washington
River Road will close the morning of July 4 and reopen the following morning.
The public will not be allowed to park or set up seating in the 200 block of S. Austin by Central Park. This area will be barricaded for the bleachers and the parade grandstand starting at 6 a.m. on Thursday, July 3.
Several streets will be closed for use as parade staging areas from 7 a.m. until approximately 10 a.m. July 4. Use of these streets should be reserved for residents and those participating in the parade. If possible, residents are asked to help by not parking in the street in front of their home during parade staging.
East and West Weinert
East and West Cedar
East and West Humphreys
East and West Krezdorn
100 block of School Street
East College Street from Austin to King
River Street between College and Cedar
Milam Street around Mary B. Erskine School
The parade route stretches Austin Street from E. Weinert to Nelda. This portion of Austin Street will close just prior to the parade start at 10 a.m. and reopen shortly after the parade concludes. Traffic will not be allowed to cross the parade route during the event. Sidewalks along the parade route must remain clear until the morning of the parade. Chairs and other items that block sidewalks prior to the morning of July 4 may be removed for safety.
The greens at Max Starcke Park Golf Course will be roped off during the July Fourth Fireworks Fiesta. The City of Seguin asks people to stay off the greens, sand traps and other roped off areas during the fireworks show to help protect them from damage.
For the first time, Smokey Joe Williams Field and the softball fields will be open as viewing areas during the fireworks show. The fields are located off Nelda Road. The City of Seguin suggests using the bleachers or outfields for the best viewing experience.
