Volunteers

The Seguin Fire Department invites community members interested in serving in the fire service to apply to become a volunteer firefighter. Although Seguin is a predominantly paid fire department, our volunteer company provides assistance in fire suppression activities.

Members of the SFD Volunteer Company are provided with personal protective equipment (bunker gear), class A and B uniforms, and a pager. Volunteers respond directly to fire scenes and assist paid personnel in fire suppression activities, whether at a structure fire, brush fire or other emergencies. Volunteers are also encouraged to ride out with career firefighters as often as they can.

The SFD Volunteer Company holds one business meeting on the first Wednesday of every month. Training drills are held on the first Monday after the business meeting and the third Monday of the month. Additional training opportunities through area fire academies and Texas A&M Municipal Fire Training Academy are provided at no cost. Membership in the State Fireman's and Fire Marshal's Association is also provided at no cost.

To join the Seguin Fire Department Volunteer Company, please stop by the City of Seguin Human Resources Department and fill out an application. If you have any questions, please call Chief Dale Skinner at (830) 401-2310.
