Small Business Development

Since conception, the Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) has been a small business advocate. We provide support to local business owners through various outlets such as providing free small business advising, allocating marketing and advertising dollars for small businesses and serving as members of both local Chambers of Commerce.

While small businesses may not generate as much money as large corporations, they are a critical component of and major contributor to the strength of our local economy for numerous reasons. Seguin's small business sector has continued to be a prominent source of bringing growth and innovation into our community. Many of our local small businesses have historically proven to possess the ability to respond and adapt quickly to changing economic climates. This is due to various factors, the most obvious being their tendency to maintain a customer-oriented mindset. With national major manufacturers and national retail chains continue to enter our local market, Seguin’s small businesses have maintained competitive advantage by offering more personalized service and customizing their products or services to meet local customer's needs.

Starting and operating a small business is a big decision with a lot of risk. However, the SEDC is standing by to make that leap a little less daunting. Consider the SEDC staff your liaison in operating a small business- we are here to support your business.
The SEDC provides financial support to the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA), to provide business owners with free, confidential business right here in Seguin. Through the SBDC, we also are able to provide your business access to workshops designed for small business owners, plus valuable research resources and a professional referral network.

If you have any questions regarding future business plans, or how to meet the most efficient outcome on a project you are planning, give us a call- we are here to help. The SEDC maintains a strong social media presence in order to spread the word and inform citizens about what’s happening in Seguin’s vibrant business community. Connect with us and share information about your business on Facebook, Twitter and Linked-In.
